Covestro will use its leading position in some bio-based resin innovations to develop its Recovery® series of resins and value-added services to meet the needs of its customers and the market.
Throughout the global decorative coatings industry, regulatory agencies, professional painters and consumers have all put forward unprecedented demands for more sustainable products that can protect health and safety while improving functionality and efficiency. In fact, according to a recent coatings monitoring report, environmentally friendly coatings are now the most anticipated innovation for painters in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Moreover, with the rapid changes in the decoration industry, it has become more and more important for coating manufacturers to achieve their own differentiation by meeting these needs.
Covestro’s “Decorative Resin House” strategy aims to meet these requirements through three key pillars: proprietary market insight, its advanced resin technology toolbox, and its leading position in some bio-based innovations. The company’s latest initiative (known as “creating more natural homes for sustainable coatings”) pays special attention to the plant-based Recovery® resin series, which has a bio-based content of up to 52% and has been verified to meet the C14 standard.
