Temperature and sunlight will affect the storage time of unsaturated polyester resin. In fact, whether it is unsaturated polyester resin or other resins, the storage temperature is preferably 25 degrees Celsius in the current zone. On this basis, the lower the temperature, the longer the validity period of the unsaturated polyester resin; the higher the temperature, the shorter the validity period.
The resin needs to be sealed and stored in the original container to prevent the loss of monomer volatilization and the falling of external impurities. And the lid of the packaging barrel for storing resin should not be made of copper or copper alloy, preferably polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride and other metal lids.
Generally speaking, in high temperature conditions, avoid direct sunlight to the packaging barrel, but the storage period will still be affected, because in high temperature weather, the gel time of the resin will be shortened a lot, if it is a poor quality resin, even Will directly solidify in the packaging barrel. Therefore, during the high temperature period, if conditions permit, it is best to store it in an air-conditioned warehouse with a constant temperature of 25 degrees Celsius. If the manufacturer does not prepare an air-conditioned warehouse, it must pay attention to shorten the storage time of the resin.
It is important to note that the resin mixed with styrene must be treated as flammable hydrocarbons to prevent fire. There must be very strict management of warehouses and plants that store this type of resin, and fire prevention and combustion work must be done at all times.
Safety matters that must be paid attention to during the processing of unsaturated polyester resin in the workshop
1. Resin, curing agent, and accelerator are all flammable materials, so fire prevention must be paid attention to, and they must be stored separately, otherwise it is very easy to cause explosion.
2. There must be no smoking and no open flames in the production workshop.
3. The production workshop must maintain adequate ventilation. There are two forms of workshop ventilation, one is to maintain indoor air circulation, so as to remove the volatile styrene at any time. Because styrene vapor is denser than air, the styrene concentration near the ground is also relatively high. Therefore, the exhaust vent in the workshop is best set close to the ground. The other is to use tools and equipment to locally exhaust the operating area. For example, set up a separate exhaust fan to extract the high-concentration styrene vapor from the operating area, or exhaust the flue gas through the main suction pipe installed in the workshop.
4. In order to deal with unexpected incidents, the production workshop must have at least two exits.
5. The resin and various accelerators stored in the production workshop should not be too much, it is best to store a small amount.
6. Resins that have not been used but have been added with accelerators should be transferred to a safe location and stored separately to prevent a large amount of heat from accumulating in the accumulation and causing explosion and fire.
7. Once the unsaturated polyester resin leaks and causes a fire, toxic gases will be discharged in the process and endanger human health. Therefore, emergency measures must be taken to deal with it.
