Improving the breaking strength of fiberglass fabric can be done in several ways:
1. Selecting suitable fiberglass composition: the strength of glass fibers of different compositions varies greatly. Generally speaking, the higher the alkali content of the fiberglass (such as K2O, and PbO), the lower the strength. Therefore, choosing glass fibers with low alkali content can improve their strength.
2. Control the diameter and length of glass fibers: the finer the diameter and the longer the length of glass fibers, the stronger they usually are. The number and size of microcracks decrease with diameter and length, thus increasing the strength of glass fibers.
3. Optimize the manufacturing process: During the manufacturing process, the steps of fiber drawing, weaving, coating, and curing are strictly controlled to ensure the uniformity and quality of the fabric. For example, use professional weaving and coating equipment and adjust the curing time and temperature to obtain the best mechanical properties.
4. Avoid prolonged storage: Glass fibers will deteriorate during storage due to the adsorption of moisture in the air, resulting in loss of strength. Therefore, long-term storage should be avoided and appropriate moisture-proof measures should be taken.
5. Use suitable adhesive: when choosing an adhesive, materials that will cause chemical corrosion to fiberglass should be avoided, especially those mineral-based materials with high water absorption. Cement-free pure polymer-based smoothing mortar can make fiberglass cloth function normally for a long time due to non-alkali corrosion and low water absorption.
