Aerogels have extremely low density, high specific surface area and high porosity, which exhibit unique optical, thermal, acoustic, and electrical properties, which will have wide application prospects in many fields. At present, the most successfully commercialized aerogel product in the world is a felt-like product made of SiO₂ aerogel and glass fiber composite.
Fiberglass aerogel stitched combo mat is mainly an insulation material made of aerogel and glass fiber composite. It not only retains the characteristics of low thermal conductivity of aerogel, but also has the characteristics of flexibility and high tensile strength, and is easy to construct.Compared with traditional insulation materials, glass fiber aerogel felt has many advantages in terms of thermal conductivity, mechanical properties, water resistance, and fire resistance.
It mainly has the effects of flame retardant, thermal insulation, thermal insulation, sound insulation, shock absorption, etc. It can be used as a substrate for thermal insulation of new energy vehicles, automobile door panel ceiling materials, interior decoration basic decorative plates, construction, industry and other thermal insulation, sound-absorbing and heat-insulating materials, glass fiber reinforced plastic composite materials, industrial high-temperature filter materials, etc. Substrate.
The preparation methods of SiO₂ aerogel composite materials generally include in situ method, soaking method, chemical vapor permeation method, molding method, etc. Among them, in situ method and molding method are commonly used to prepare fiber-reinforced SiO₂ aerogel composite materials.
The production process of fiberglass aerogel mat mainly includes the following steps:
① Glass fiber pretreatment: The pretreatment steps of cleaning and drying the glass fiber to ensure the quality and purity of the fiber.
② Preparation of aerogel sol: The steps for preparing aerogel sol are similar to ordinary aerogel felt, i.e. silicon-derived compounds (such as silica) are mixed with a solvent and heated to form a uniform sol.
③ Coating fiber: The glass fiber cloth or yarn is infiltrated and coated in the sol, so that the fiber is in full contact with the aerogel sol.
④ Gel formation: After the fiber is coated, it is gelatinized. The method of gelation can use heating, pressurization, or chemical crosslinking agents to promote the formation of a solid gel structure of the aerogel.
⑤ Solvent removal: Similar to the production process of general aerogel felt, the gel needs to be desolvated so that only the solid aerogel structure is left in the fiber.
⑥ Heat treatment: The fiberglass aerogel mat after desolvation is heat treated to enhance its stability and mechanical properties. The temperature and time of heat treatment can be adjusted according to specific requirements.
⑦ Cutting/forming: The glass fiber aerogel felt after heat treatment can be cut and formed to obtain the desired shape and size.
⑧ Surface treatment (optional): According to needs, the surface of fiberglass aerogel mat can be further treated, such as coating, covering or functionalization, to meet specific application needs.
