Application of fiberglass in the field of building materials

1.Glass fiber reinforced cement

Glass fiber reinforced cement is a glass fiber reinforced material, with cement mortar or cement mortar as the matrix material composite. It improves the defects of traditional cement concrete such as high density, poor crack resistance, low flexural strength and tensile strength, etc. It has the advantages of light weight, high strength, good crack resistance, good refractoriness, high frost resistance, good additivity, etc. It is used in construction, civil engineering, municipal, water conservancy projects, etc. However, the hydration product of ordinary silicate cement, calcium hydroxide, will produce glass fiber. However, the hydration product of ordinary silicate cement, calcium hydroxide, can cause corrosion of glass fiber. In order to control the corrosion of glass fibers, a matrix with low alkalinity environment is developed to produce glass fiber reinforced magnesium phosphate cement composites, which are usually widely used as repair materials for roads, bridges, airport runways, etc.; and glass fiber reinforced magnesium chloroxydate cement, which is usually used for roofing, walls, and movable board houses.

2.Glass Reinforced Plastic (FRP)

Glass fiber reinforced composite material, also called FRP, is formed with glass fiber as reinforcing material and resin as matrix material. With light weight and high strength, superior corrosion resistance, strong design, sound insulation performance, etc., in the building energy saving is increasingly favored. Glass fiber reinforced plastic pipe used in water supply and drainage, compared with the metal pipe used in the past, reinforced concrete pipe and other pipes, good corrosion resistance, long life, good heat resistance, low production and installation costs, low resistance to transport media, energy saving and consumption; because of its thermal conductivity is small, linear expansion coefficient is small, good sealing performance and become a green environmental protection products of the building windows and doors, energy-saving effect is significant, to make up for the traditional plastic doors and windows of low-strength, easy to deformation defects. Defects of the traditional plastic steel doors and windows of low strength and easy to deform. Both traditional aluminum alloy and plastic steel doors and windows are strong, corrosion-resistant, energy-saving and heat preservation features, but also has its own unique sound insulation, aging resistance, dimensional stability and other advantages; In addition, as a building energy-saving materials, FRP is also used to manufacture glass fiber reinforced plastic flooring, ventilation kitchens, movable panel houses, manhole covers, cooling towers and so on.

3 .Building waterproof material

The short-cut glass fiber wet molding, through the impregnation of polymer binder, high-temperature drying and curing made of glass fiber tires, can be used as waterproof building materials. Because of its good dimensional stability, waterproofing, corrosion resistance, aging resistance, ultraviolet resistance and other characteristics, mainly as a waterproofing membrane carcass, glass fiber tires asphalt shingles, waterproof coatings, etc., used in waterproofing projects for buildings, to prevent the erosion of the building water.

4 Architectural Membrane Structure Material

With glass fiber as the reinforcing material, after finishing process, coated with high-performance resin material on the surface of the composite material. Commonly used building membrane materials are: polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membrane, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) membrane, ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) membrane, etc. Because of its light weight and durability, anti-fouling and self-cleaning, light transmission and energy saving, sound and fire prevention, etc., it is used in stadiums, exhibition halls, airport halls, recreation centers, shopping malls, parking lots and other buildings. For example, Shanghai 10,000 people stadium, Shanghai World Expo, Guangzhou Asian Games, etc. are used PTFE membrane; “Bird’s Nest” used PTFE + ETFE structure, the outer layer of ETFE to play a protective role, the inner layer of PTFE to play a role in the insulation and sound insulation; “Water Cube” is a double-layer membrane, which is used in the “Water Cube”, which is used in the “Water Cube”, which is used in the “Water Cube”. The “Water Cube” adopts double-layer ETFE.
